So, anyone with half a brain that’s into food knows Bento means LUNCH in Japanese, basically.

How on EARTH is this a lunch box?

I get the nagging feeling Rubbermaid was just trying to cash in on a term they obviously know jack about from another culture.

EDIT: So I called the 888 number and spoke with a representative named Chris, and she took down my comments and was honestly surprised at finding out that bento literally translates to lunch, took down my name & number (then asked for my address just in case they wanted to send a certificate, which I explained I was NOT interested in), and said she will try to have someone call back for follow-up.

I explained that I liked the concept of the particular storage boxes, but calling them lunchboxes REALLY doesn’t work, and I also explained that it comes across as highly, highly offensive.

CALL IN! Flood them with these kind of comments! GO GO GO!
